Case Study: Yucaipa, CA Home
While evading the police, a drunk driver ran his Chevy truck through a “T” intersection, breaking through the front yard fence, bushes, trees, and power lines before slamming into the corner of a 1920’s home. American Technologies, Inc. and American Restoration were called in to handle the board up and structure repairs.
The homeowners informed American Restoration that drunk drivers had driven through their yard before and expressed concern that it would happen again during reconstruction. Unfortunately, the homeowners’ fears became reality when the week following the initial job walk another truck ran into the electrical pole in the front yard.
It quickly became apparent that the structure was very unstable. At the initial board up, ATI/AR crews shored up the exterior walls to prevent a collapse. In the restoration phase, the interior of the house was shored to hold up the roof as the block repairs were being performed and steel reinforcement added to meet building code requirements. The walls were cinder block throughout the house, and reconstruction was split - maintaining cinder block walls in the interior walls and wood framing on the exterior. American Restoration also determined that the truck crash had affected the plumbing in the home and performed those repairs as well. American Restoration successfully completed the home’s restoration to the complete satisfaction of the homeowner.
