Smoke Damage at Apartment Complex

Services-construction, after Services-Construction, Before

Glen Willow Apartments, an 84-unit complex, suffered a major 7-alarm fire in March 2005. All units were affected, ranging from smoke damage to complete loss. American Technologies, Inc./American Restoration was called in to perform emergency services, contents relocation and cleaning, asbestos abatement and reconstruction.

Once all emergency services, contents cleaning and asbestos abatement were complete and permits were obtained, our in-house crews performed all demolition, and reconstruction work began. To bring the apartment building up to code, we added a complete seismic retrofit to the foundation, lateral bracing to the building above, and installation of a sprinkler and fire alarm system. Because of the sheer size and extent of work needed to complete this reconstruction job, our project manager also acted as superintendent and remained on-site throughout the entire process including interviewing and hiring all subcontractors and overseeing all work from the initial framing through final finish work. American Technologies, Inc./American Restoration crews were on-site working on this job from the initial emergency response in March 2005 through final inspection in April 2008.
